Getting started

How do I install Volk on my phone?

Volk is a web app, so you don't need an app store. On Android (Chrome), open volk.gg and tap Install when prompted, or open the browser menu and choose Install app / Add to Home screen. On iPhone or iPad (Safari), tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.

How do I turn on notifications?

Go to Settings → Notifications and allow notifications when your browser asks. On iPhone, install Volk to your home screen first; iOS only allows notifications for installed web apps.

Why does everything look different on my phone and computer?

Volk has a layout designed for phones and one for larger screens, and picks the right one automatically.

Posting

How long can a post be?

Up to 1,000 words. The editor shows a counter as you get close.

What can I upload?

Up to 10 photos per post (JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF), or one video (MP4, MOV, WebM and other common formats), audio file or document. Videos are processed after you publish and appear once they are ready.

Why was my photo or video rejected?

Every upload is checked automatically before it's published, and Volk doesn't allow nudity or sexual content (see the Community Guidelines). Swimwear and similar content is fine. If you think the check made a mistake, email [email protected].

Who can see my posts?

Your posts are public by default. You can change who can see your content and who can contact you in Settings → Privacy.

What is a sensitive post?

Mark a post sensitive from the editor's ⋯ menu if it contains something people may not want to see without warning, such as newsworthy violence or medical images. Viewers will see a warning before it's shown.

Live streaming

How do I go live?

Open Live, choose Go live, give your stream a title, pick your camera or screen, and press Go live. To use streaming software instead, choose OBS / software: in OBS 31 or newer, set the service to WHIP and paste your server URL, start streaming in OBS, then press Go live and keep the page open. Streams are not recorded.

Where does chat appear?

Live chat appears under the video for everyone watching. Chat follows the same rules as the rest of Volk.

Someone got my stream key. What do I do?

On the Go live page, choose Reset stream key. The old server URL stops working immediately.

Your account

I forgot my password.

On the sign-in page, choose Forgot password and follow the link we email you.

How do I see where I'm signed in?

Go to Settings → Security to see your active sessions and sign out any device you don't recognize.

How do I get verified or become an author?

See the verification rules and author program, then apply from Settings.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Account → Actions and choose delete. This removes your profile and content. See the Privacy Policy for how long backups are kept.

Safety

How do I report something?

Use the ⋯ menu on any post, comment, profile or message and choose Report. For urgent safety issues, email [email protected]. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.

How do I block or mute someone?

Open their profile, tap ⋯, and choose Block or Mute. Blocked people can't see your profile or contact you. Muted people won't know, and you just won't see their posts.

Someone is using my photos or pretending to be me.

Report the account from its profile, or email [email protected] with a link to it. For copyright issues, see copyright.
